Troop 2 ventured to Heritage Reservation for summer camp 2025. As tradition, many Troop 2 scouts took to the trail 5 days earlier to complete a 70 mile trek from Boston Junction to Heritage. 8 scouts from ages 11 to 15 successfully made the journey.
The hikers were joined by the rest of the Troop at Saratoga, our home away from home for a week.
Saratoga is nicely situated across the land bridge and is first on “The Ridge”. Makes for an easy 2min 18second march to the parade field. This week was uniquely hot, with temperatures peaking above 90 degrees and staying warm through the evening and well into the night.
For the first time in quite awhile, the kitchen staff didn’t try to kill us or starve us. The food service was great, you know, for camp food. Our only issue as adult leaders is Thursday night… They make us cook at the camp site, it hasn’t been fun yet.
3 Scouts completed the 1 mile lake swim on Friday and began preparing themselves for the 70 mile bike back. We had a great turnout, 12 scouts, to bike from Heritage to Boston Junction. Among these 12 was Troop 2’s youngest scout. Arvin completed the Troop 2 Ironman with this arrival at Boston.
Congratulations Arvin!
Arvin is Troop 2’s youngest Ironman.
